Overview

The praguxians, or the pragux, are a species derived from humans. More specifically, each pragux is born as a human. The process of becoming one of the pragux happens over time, and there exists no official distinction between a human and a pragux. It involves a series of psychological changes, as well as the gradual replacement of one’s own body with artificially crafted parts.

Origin

At first, there were only humans and prahians. Upon truly discovering the existance of prahians, humans quickly became envious of their immortal bodies. With the help of technology extracted from the prahians, the humans were able to prolong their lives further and further. This was, however, a luxurious option available only for those with an abundance of wealth. Over the course of a few hundred years, the first artificially preserved humans went through a series of unexpected psychological changes. Many envied the youth of the younger humans, some even started to despise them for the very same reason. Some turned downright mad, commited crimes and went missing. All these artificially preserved humans had one thing in common – power. For a long time, the destructive mental side effects had been kept out from the public eye. And as the technology advanced, even more people from the lower working classes were able to afford artificial body replacements.

The 2479 incident

In the year 2479, a major incident happened. A known political and an economical actor, Salvador Oxpanna, ruthlessly attacked a group of journalists in a press interview. Salvador was one of the oldest people held alive by a synthetic body, and correspondingly he held major militaristic power. During the incident, the authorities tried to take Salvador into custody. However, the authorities were brutally taken out by Salvador’s guard unit. Footage of the incident was leaked out to the public. From this footage people could see the true mental state that Salvador had fell into. He was able to flee the scene and for some time, Salvador was nowhere to be found. Just when the dust seemed to have settled down, something unexpected happened.

Invasion 2481

In the year 2481, armed forces around the Earth started to take action, seizing governments one after another. Behind all this was a group of seven elite, artificially preserved individuals, one of them being Salvador Oxpanna. The recent incident regarding Salvador had activated the group to advance their until now top secret plan for total world domination. The group became to be known as the Calamitas. Even after attaining enormous earthly assets, the seven members of the Calamitas were not satisfied with their mundane lives. What they wanted was something out of this world. They wanted to rebuild the world with their new ideology of casualized fear, a world of utter hell. Each of them had their own equally twisted intentions, but they were all communally thrilled to commence their accursed plan. Only the seven leading individuals of the Calamitas knew about the severe consequences of the acts of terror they were about to unleash. If an outsider had really known what they were up to, they would have instantly lost their support and power to accomplish this mission. The strategy was to gradually advance the state of the Earth towards their ideal. But first, they had to take control and assert their dominance. The global invasion began by taking down all other leading military actors on Earth, all within a single day. In the end, the Calamitas’ powerful military force and the Earth's already corrupted political state allowed the Calamitas to control most governments from behind the scenes. What followed was violent acts everywhere. The working class was thrown into a state of terror. Riots were put down with violent government responses and eventually the people were too afraid to go outside. The ones who resisted were sent to Antarctica, which gained particularly fearsome reputation for its harsh environment and rehabilitation camps.

New Earth order

The seven continents of the Earth were divided among the seven leaders of the Calamitas. They became to be the seven tyrants of Earth: Amnomm of Asia, Bubzelbee of North America, Donabad of Antarctica, Furicel of Australia, Gorephelb of Africa, Saedomus of South America and Thansaus of Europe. The term ’pragux’ had existed for a good while, but using it had been strictly forbiddden, as it had a negative tone. Now the people started to talk about the praguxian invasion. Terrified by the violent acts executed by government controlled organizations, waves of refugees fled to Mars, which at the time was mainly a workhub for lower class humans. Followed by the Calamitas' ascension into power, more than two thirds of the human population died – mostly because food production was abandoned. The Calamitas would not care. The remaining people on Earth were engulfed by the new ideal world envisioned by the Calamitas, and for a hundred years or so, not much was heard from Earth. The current martian civilization was convinced that the pragux would eventually destroy themselves from within, but to their gravest surprise this was not the case. From the enclosed cocoon that Earth had become, new nightmarish beings began to emerge.

Political standing

The pragux want to remove the human race as it currently is from the existence. It is not unheard of that the praguxians would attack prahians or even other pragux, if they happen to cross roads with them.
